Welcome Fr. Kyle Macke who has replaced retired Fr. Bakkum

Fr. Mackey’s Bio

Kyle is a native son of Dublin, GA. Born and raised in the Baptist tradition, he left that tradition during his time at the University of Georgia (B.S. Psych) in search of a church that better fit what he had learned about Jesus.  That time of wondering led him to the Episcopal Church in the form of the campus ministry at UGA.  He was received into the Episcopal church soon afterwards.  Sometime later, he attended an overnight retreat for young adults focused on vocation, or “What is God calling for me to do in life?”  This is where the first inklings of call began to show.  Not long afterwards, he was sponsored through the Discernment of Young Vocations Experience, or DYVE, in the Diocese of Atlanta.  He received a positive recommendation for priestly ordination, and after taking a gap year, proceeded through the formal process.  After attending seminary at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, Father Kyle was ordained to the priesthood by the Bishop of Atlanta, the Rt. Rev. Robert C. Wright.

Fr. Kyle has served in several parishes, most recently Christ Church in Dublin, GA.   In his free time, Kyle enjoys reading, movies, and a wide range of music, as well as, a few particularly nerdy hobbies like Dungeons & Dragons.  He also enjoys the great outdoors spending time camping, hiking, and paddling his kayak.

His passion in ministry is helping others deepen their connection and appreciation of the divine, by helping them see the connections between their own life story and the the grander story of God particularly in the story of Jesus.  He hopes to make the world a better place by helping others strive to be the disciples that Jesus calls them to be.
